"Grandma, Grandpa, I'm home." Katia called out loudly, announcing herself to her grandparents in    the way she did every single night when she came in from playing with her friends. When she was greeted with an unexpected silence she found it peculier. "Nanna? Gramps? Are you home?"


As Katia stepped from the hallways into the living room her heart sunk deep in her chest. As she gazed upon the lifeless forms of her grandmother and grandfather, panic sank. In, She flipped on the lights to illuminate the dimly lit room, and when she saw her grandfather and grandmother had both had their throat slit, and were not sleeping, but dead, the realization of what had happened her caused a horrible scream to escape from deep within her.



Katia blinked and opened her eyes. She was no longer twelve years old, starring back into the lifeless eyes of her grandparents who were slit open while lying helpless watching television. Now, Katia was twenty-six years old, and she was seated in her office where she worked as an assistant private investigator. She was looking at a crime scene photo offered for her eyes by a contact of hers in the police office. The photo, which he was not authorized to share with anyone, showed the body of a young woman that had been half strangled before her killer had slit open her throat, killing her.
